As a joint project, we are working on a optical interrogator based on Brillouin backscattered light to detect continuously both strain and temperature along the fiber optic cable. We are aiming to measure temperature and strain in length of above 20 km with spatial resolution of 1 m, temperature resolution of 1 °C and strain resolution of 25 µ∊.
The interrogator can be used in applications, such as:
- Pipeline monitoring
- Oil well monitoring
